waiting for winter

We have started the year with anything but wintry weather - it has been well above freezing, a little windswept at times, but nothing like a frosty world. Of course, this could all change. Meanwhile, with a desire to paint winter scenes, I have been working imaginatively, having experience of frosty times in the past...

I am enjoying hellebore right now - the plants in my garden are just making flower buds and that is always a hopeful sight. There are bulbs appearing too. I wanted this still life with landscape to offer something peaceful and hopeful.
