jar with moss and feathers - gouache on Fabriano paper
still life with eucalyptus - gouache on Fabriano paper
Interesting for me how I often just know when something should be painted. That happened with the eucalyptus. A friend gave me the sprig and I put it in the vase - immediately I knew I had to paint what we were looking at. An unexpected moment, a good one.
The jar painting came about a few days later. I've been growing moss outside, collecting up little pads of it that birds have dug up or knocked from the roof. I decided to bring some of the moss indoors, to grow in jars. The feathers seemed to work in the large jar and another painting came along....
Now to consider what next... That sometimes takes a few days. In the mean time, I have a series of small portraits, figures in interiors, ongoing. I'll share a few of those here soon.
